April 9, 2009 Well, I've successfully ignored this blog. Last I was here was in January. Shame on me! Lots going on since then. Please take at my 1000 Markets shop and make sure you poke around while you're there. O love it when you visit me but there are a ton of super talented people I don't want you to miss out on. So far I am involved with three different Markets. The
Jewelry Artisans Market can be found here:

With business aside I've also been working with our little Girl Scout troop (not so little anymore) Last Monday we delivered the fruits of our labors to the local animal shelter, Animal Friends of the Valley. The girls have been learning what it takes to run a shelter, making things like hand baked pet treats, tying lovey blankets, designing and making pet toys, collecting donations of food, and treats. It all came together Monday when the girls delivered 40 adoption bags to the shelter.
12 girls completed the Bronze Award requirements. They are all 10 and 11 years old Junior Girl Scouts.
Each bag had one of their blankets, a toy, some pet treats, and, of course, people treats (Girl Scout cookies) for the new owner.
My daughter waiting for the baby bunnies to come out! She had to settle for this fuzzy, wuzzy and very shy puppy.
All in all the girls put in 180 hours of work collectively to complete the project.
The girls had been at the shelter last fall when they had decided to plan their project around the animals.
Our shelter has had to keep all their animals in trailers and a fire broke out killing about 50 of the cats and dogs. This was some time ago but the girls knew the story. Here is the memorial at the shelter. But we made some friends anyway...
...and one didn't want us to leave!
Too cute! My daughter has been so taken with her project she's going back next week to volunteer with the director. She'll see all the workings from behind the scenes for several hours Monday through Friday. Please also visit www.susanscharmingtrinkets.blogspot.com
