Monday March 31, 2008 "The State of my Studio" So, it must be Spring fever or something like that to make us feel like we need to re-organize and unload our lives. The first weeks of March in my studio were somewhat painful. Tripping over stuff, moving things aimlessly from point A to point B then back again, picking items up from my desk only to find they procreated and were back on my desk...ugh! One could only guess what I've been up to since my last entry...? Oh yes! Re-arranging, re-organizing, and purging! I now actually know where things are and how to find them when and if I want them. Of course there is always more to do but I've gotten quite a ways. Here's where it all started... That is supposed to be a sewing area...fat chance! I have no idea what this is supposed to be but I know where just about everything is. Scary, huh? Okay, so if all this stuff is on top of your work desk where does one actually work? I couldn't answer that either. Next couple days I will let you in on what it looks like now! Oh, and through all the organizing I put together another card. This time it was for my Aunt who turned 85 last Friday.
My stash includes lots of family pictures and this one is precious. It is all my female cousins one Christmas with my Aunt in the background. Some distressing, ink, sewing, a little glue, punched flowers, and a few buttons, voila! I told her since it's such a great Christmas image she may get it back later this year. (!) It made the mail today so she doesn't have it yet or realize it's coming. Also included with the piece above there are 2 pictures of our kids. Last week we cut hair for "Locks of Love." My son had a 10 inch pony tail...Wow! Our daughter also decided to get her hair cut and her tail was just as long.
Aren't they cute!? Friday April 11, 2008 "The State of My Studio" So, I was going to post some new pictures of my studio last week. The operative word is WAS. I took a look at it after my last post and realized that it doesn't really look any different to anyone else but me...! All the rearranging and futzing I did are only apparent to me because I know I rearranged them. New pictures look almost identical to the ones above except that there is a stack of boxes next to my desk, about 4 feet tall, full of all the paper and ephemera that I organized. Ugh... So instead of try and wrack everyone's brain to figure out where this woman thinks this studio looks different, I will show you what things I've been creating in my mess.
Tags, tags, and more tags. I've got the tag bug! Small, great shapes, and easily completed in short time bursts. Perfect when you have kids that can't leave you alone for more than 20 seconds at any given moment. More on this after I scan some more...
