Kid Stuff!
Any of you who know me have most likely seen the picture of my
kids I keep on the screen of my phone. As of this writing they are 6 and 8 years
old. Do I have to tell you that they are endlessly active? Or that they are
crazy people without something to do?
Well, the one thing I can always rely on to keep them quiet is some kind of
creative project.
Here are some of our favorites!
Monster Round-a-bout!
Find some paper! Any paper will do and you will need something to draw with. We usually use a pencil or two. Start by drawing a circle, square, triangle, or some other shape. Pass the paper to someone else and let them draw one portion of the picture. One portion could be one eye, one leg, one arm, one wing...whatever you want. When you've drawn in your piece, pass the paper to the next person and keep going. You'll know your done when a scary (or funny) Monster is looking at you from the paper!
Torn Paper Self-Portraits
Gather up construction paper in an array of skin colors, eye, hair, lips, and any other facial colors you can think of. Stick glue is perfect for this project and you will need to have some sort of mirrors available for the kids to see themselves.. Match up skin tones to the kids and let them have a page. Let them tear a round, ovally head shape. Make them look into a mirror to choose hair colors, eye color, and their other facial features. Let them glue their pieces to the head piece. Continue until the kids think that they are done and you'll be amazed at what they come up with.
