Attempt #2 at a blog post...!

Today I'm armed with all the right tools to bring everyone up to date on what keeps me from writing here more often!

Here goes!

This little gal keeps us all hopping! She's holding the Chinese Dragon we made for a Chinese New Year celebration at school.

Remember the Octopus hat at the bottom of the page?
Here is the process:

Arms attached. spray paint was the only easy way to get him to be all yellow. Why yellow you ask? Well' it's a poisonous Blue ringed Octopus!

See?! Blue rings!

The happy painter.

Oooh, and Mom got out the glue gun so we could pepper the undersides of the tentacles with button suckers! The kids love the more dangerous tools! Today was his oral presentation section of the project so we'll see later how that went!

Now for the other big weekend event!

Happy 80th Birthday Grandpa!!

Hams....

Aren't they cute? We had a great time at the Great Oak Restaurant at Pechanga.

Until next time!

...very, very far behind....again

How did it get to be 2010? Wasn't it yesterday I was sitting around trying to figure out how old I would be in the year 2000? Did I miss it? The days seem to evaporate.

Well, I haven't been here in awhile. The holiday season was crazy busy, a really good reason to neglect your blog!

In an attempt to be more involved here I am going to try to go back to an idea I had last year. But with an adjustment. I thought I could do a "Sneak Peek A Week..." but so it turns out it was like a peek every six months or so. Not so hot! Let's try for "What's On My Studio Desk?" maybe once a month. then if I get to it more than that everyone will be pleasantly surprised. (including myself!)

Here goes....

Over the past two or three years the greatest gal at CHA has given us demonstrations on how to use resin. Well, this year I finally got up the nerve to try my hand at it. Here's my first project. I ordered some Amate trayed rings but since they won't be in for a few weeks they gave me one to play with. When I'm done it will be me, my nose, crown, and the letters, M & E, just in case you had any question.

Okay, this does not look like what I'm about to tell you it is...it's an Octopus hat with out it's tentacles. Did I get ya? Today it has some arms, eight to be exact, and this little eight year old sewed them all, by himself! Once painted it will be a blue ringed Octopus "hat" for his sea creature project at school.
